Every TV channel and news article I read say the economy is terrible......I wonder if that is true in the Valley as well. Have any of you seen this terrible economy?
things actually have not changed terribly. the valley has been in and economic slump that the rest of the country is just feeling. BUT according to TXCN the "Valley" is predicted to be the fastest growing economy in TX growing i believe 20% in the next some amount of years. this is only relavant in comparison to other areas that projected to only grow as follows: Dallas-3% College Station-5% Houston-2% San Antontio-4%
So as far as i am concerned start putting your money in now because a metropolis is about to be born.
the "internationals"....yes the Mexicans with money help our economy. They also push me around at the mall and the outlets...ARGGGGHHH Also, the winter texans help Walmart. They don't tend to spend lots of money with their fixed income and all. Plus they go wherever FREE stuff is advertised. Sometimes I wonder who is worse???
The economy in the valley hasn't really seen a shock since the peso devaluation back in the 80s. 50% of the houses in our subdivision in McAllen were repossessed and the value of the houses in the subdivision dropped by 25%. It took the better part of 10 years to recoup the lost value of the houses.
My dad always told me that there was always a chance that the price of houses would go down but I never believed him till then. Lesson learned!
