and the best one, here is a little tank with a 7.62 mm M60 mounted.

as you can see to the right a little with some camouflage web two more M60s are mounted and bunkered with sandbags on the edges of the bridge entrance.

and of course the army infantry men standing everywhere checking every entering semi with their HKG3 s in hand locked and loaded.

I stayed and talked to a few people there and they said (in spanish of course) that the violence is not occurring here in that area. But what i did discuss is populations and according to some figures from different people the population or populacion of Progreso is 15,000-30,000 as compared to the 1,000,000+ down the highway in reynosa


i know people said they are scared and you can tell. the only real people on the streets there are senior citizens, but hey what a way to go out in the crossfire of a drug war while you are partying your last days in mexico.

you don't need a passport, mine is in the mail and i just brought my license.


there is even a sign saying that passports are necessary effective June-1 2009 but it also states at the event you did not have one you must provide proper identification.

needless to say i did not have mine.

They may give you a hard time (ask why you don't have your passport or why you haven't applied for it) but usually with your driver's license and a copy of your smaller birth certificate it is enough to get you back across.

we had a blast there as well...hit la fogata, gallerias, the beer garden, and several other drinking spots...basically shut it down as it started getting dark

Is El Senorial still open? I used to love to get liquored up in that place a few times a year. I always enjoyed Arturos when the snow birds weren't around.

Dona Charpie, be careful if you go across without a passport, I have heard of the CBP trying to make examples of some folks and people not being allowed back in.

There is a place in Houston or service, called Texas Tower that will get you a passport in a few days, just look it up online. They charge for it, but not all that very much and it like 2-5 day service or something.

No passport? No problem!

I went across without a passport and only got a stern lecture and a pamphlet thrown my way. It cost me about 20mins of my valuable time.

I was pretty toasted so I didn't mind.
