At least eight people are dead following a deadly incident at a bar near Miguel Aleman.

The Tamaulipas Ministry of Public Safety (SSP) reported that the incident took place in the town of Los Guerra.

The SSP reported that the bodies of five people were found shot to death inside a bar while three more bodies were found inside a car.

Authorities did not release the names of the alleged victims or the bar.

The case remains under investigation by state officials.

Los Guerra was the scene of a shootout between Mexican soldiers and armed men on Friday morning.

One of the armed men was reported killed in that shootout.

Miguel Aleman is located in an area across the border from the Starr and Zapata County lines.

The region has been rocked by fighting between rival drug cartels fighting for control of lucrative drug trafficking routes.
