Two men are behind bars after they allegedly tried to smuggle more than 25 pounds of cocaine into the United States.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers arrested Francisco Coronado and Francisco Reyes on federal drug charges on Saturday.
The two men drove up from Mexico at Brownsville's B&M International Bridge in a 1999 Oldsmobile Alero.
Customs officers allegedly found 10 packages with 25.4 pounds of cocaine hidden inside the car.
Coronado and Reyes both appeared before U.S. Magistrate Court Judge Ronald Morgan on Monday morning.
Customs officers said Coronado was driving the car. He was identified as a Mexican national who lived in Brownsville.
Reyes was identified as the passenger and a Matamoros resident.
