


Authorities are looking for a suspected drug smuggler after he allegedly abandoned close to $500,000 dollars worth of marijuana near Progreso.
U.S. Border Patrol officials told Action 4 News that that the incident took place along the Rio Grande east of Progreso on Wednesday.
Border Patrols agents spotted a Chevrolet sedan travel to and from the river.
The driver allegedly saw agents and made a u-turn back towards the Rio Grande.
Border Patrol agents told Action 4 News that the driver abandoned the car along the river's edge and then swam to Mexico.
Authorities found 40 bundles of marijuana worth about $500,000 dollars inside the car.
