BROWNSVILLE -- Its mission is to boldly go where no one else dares, into the center of one of the most power forces on earth.

The P-3 Orion Hurricane Hunter aircraft is packed to the gills with the latest gadgets and do-hickies capable of gathering as much data from inside the storm as possible.

Now the four engine flying fact factory is on the ground for all to see at the Brownsville/South Padre Island airport. Kids from across the valley are getting a chance to come aboard and see the complex equipment and talk to the meteorologists one on one. Questions range from the little torpedoes the plane drops into the storm to why the plane has propellers and not jet engines.

This is the first stop on the planes tour of five cities with the next stop in Beaumont, Texas and a final showing in Sarasota, Florida on Friday
