The Edinburg High School Bobcats and crosstown rivals the Edinburg North High School Cougars are scheduled to meet on the football field on Friday evening.
The teams rivalry is anticipated every year and sometimes includes pranks but Edinburg Consolidated Independent School Disrict officials said this went too far.
School district officials said a frozen bobcat carcass was placed behind Edinburg High School early Friday morning.
Authorities removed the carcass around 6:30 a.m. Friday.
Edinburg CISD officials said authorities are investigating the incident and that there will disciplinary consequences for those involved.
