Well whose city or HS is still in the playoffs? Mine is Weslaco East Wildcats. I remember my junior year in '03 we went 0-10, then my senior year they went 1-9 (thank you Roma). I'm sure Cedar Park will win, but good to see us do something.

The first strings of the Valley teams could probably hold their own, but they have no depth past the best 9-12 or so players on either side of ball. That has been getting the valley killed since I have lived here.

There just is not the numbers/participation the Valley to really compete with the bigger schools. Can't conclusively say about nowadays, but in the past the actual number of players on a varsity team in the valley was much smaller than the other areas of the state. They always look about the same by playoff time due to suiting up all the the rest of the players from JV and Frosh, but in reality the numbers playing in the game are very small.

Mexicans can not compete genetically.

I am convinced that Mexicans are either physically small and early maturing or larger and later maturing.

It's like Angus vs Simmental.

Mexicans can't beat rich white people, or racially diverse schools

For some reason the Valley likes multiple schools that are barely 5A instead of one big school. If all three McAllen schools were feeding a single program, it would probably be pretty good.

Your right Karr. The Valley teams did much better against like competition before the big population boom in the early 80's.

Bottom line is that you do not have the demographics down here anymore to compete with the SA or probably even the CC schools.

haha, one of the valley schools got away with this for a few years. i think that it was psja maybe. they got around the system by pulling from a freshman campus and a sophmore campus and a junior campus and a senior and etc... at one point they were one of the largest high schools in the state. we're talking 8k big.

Burton high school's varsity team would smoke any team in the valley and it wouldn't even be close. I only mention this because they are a 1A school with little depth.

It's not depth that is the main problem, it's just that the valley teams simply don't have any speed.
