I honestly don't know.

I do know that the schools and the legislature have been talking about something like this for a while now. Text books have been a huge expense for the state and the textbooks can be put on the iPads. The textbooks could then be updated every year.

I just wonder about the cost of replacing them when they are lost or broken. I was a school administrator and teacher for 40+ years and I see some advantages but I am just not sure if it is really practical. I am still getting used to using my cell phone!

I guess I'll be able to tell you when my four grandkids get them and start using them. I don't think the oldest (6th grade) will like it. He likes hunting, fishing, and sports. Doesn't much like inside stuff.

Our preacher is on the board at ACU and all of this was his idea. It's amazing to me how fast it all happened. MISD is now the 2nd school in this program and by far the largest. I am interested to see how it works too.

Eagleford, and that is exactly what is going to happen to a bunch of them. This sounds like a great idea on paper, but in practicality I don't think this goes over real well in the land of Virgin appearing Camaro's and dropouts by the score.

Yes the replacement rate will be interesting to see.

I think it will be successful as long as the teachers and admins are implementing it correctly and with proper enthusiasm.

These types of 1:1 initiatives are happening all across the country with staggeringly positive results. Students are instantly more engaged, interested in the content, and the results speak for themselves.

Technology alone can't improve education, but the correct use of these iPads will be huge for these kids.

AppleAg, It's not the the effectiveness of the program that is in doubt. It's the ability to keep track of these things once they get in the kids hands. Track my iPad feature will work great until they get about two miles south of campus.
