So I've been trying hard not to hate these folks....unfortunately, these "mexican guidos and guidettes" keep pissing me off.

I hate that they live over here and have their kids enrolled in our public schools and drive their kids to school in their BMWs with mexican tags. They live in rental homes and pay no taxes. Hell, they even get away with not paying sales tax often times because of those damn manifiestos. I figure if you don't like your own country and move to another you should be a contributing member of society. That means you pay school taxes, sales tax, county tax for your tags, buy a home and pay property tax. In other words, become American.

I would rather have the illegals here that at least pay all of the above and try to become American at whatever the cost. What the hell do "rich" nationals contribute? I mean other than dirty parking lots, snobby attitudes, bad haircuts, and shiny cars?

I've heard the argument about how the valley wouldn't survive without mexican money....blah, blah, blah....

I don't care for them or their pretentious asses.

Flame away.

The children of Port Isabel ISD would strongly disagree with you.

Thumbs up because I agree with you shortcake and because you are willing to speak up on this forum about it. So many as you might guess share the same beliefs but remain quiet in mixed company for one reason or another. Maybe coulda chose a different icon.

"Hate" is a strong word. I would use "dislike" when making a blanket statement regarding Nationals but qualify the statement, too. As often occurs in other cases, it is the few that influence opinion on the entire group.

That being said, what do you think the economy of the Valley would look like without Mexican Nat'ls?

SS, someone pays those property taxes. Likely the landowner.

And yeah, the valley blows with at the FRESAS around there.

Man, without Mexico and Mexican Nationals the RGV would be like Del Rio with a generous dose of Crystal City to add spice. When I hear things like this it reminds me of living in the Fla Keys and the transplant "locals" beetching about tourists. Bwahahaha, without the tourists they would sitting in the dark eating smoked mullet.
All the banks, malls, strip centers, eateries, and other businesses pay a ton of taxes and without the Mex's those would likely be fields, as they were before.

Im about as conservative as they get and get frustrated by some of the same issues, ie. Welfare abuse.
News flash!
They pay taxes. Property taxes are paid by the rent house owner...don't think for one minute this isn't priced into the rent total. Last I checked school taxes are paid in the property tax.
They pay the same consumption taxes everyone else does....last I checked sale tax applies to everyone. The 'manifesto' only applies to certain products and up to certain limits. Regardless, they typically only use them on certain larger purchases which they have to produce when they cross the border and request tax credit. The Mexican government only allows up to a certain value to be brought into mexico, depending on distance from the border.

I think you need to worry about the 2nd and 3rd generation US born Hispanics. Those are the ones that abuse the system and the reason why south Texas is democratic. Ie selling welfare goods, maximizing unemployment benefits by being paid in cash, etc.

It isn't Mexican nationals buying up chicken leg quarters by the cart-full at HEB on their Lone Star Card so they can sell chicken BBQ plates in the parking lot of the local Auto Zone for five bucks a pop. One thing those 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gen U.S. Mexicans have figured out is how to job the system.
