I move to make the Black Bear the official South Texas Board Mascot!

A black bear that had been wandering a remote area of Starr County has been captured and now has a new home.
Wildlife experts believe the bear crossed the Rio Grande River from Mexico late last month.
Residents off the Chapeño Road area in Falcon Heights had reported seeing the bear raiding their trash cans.
Starr County officials reported that the bear had been captured on Thursday.
Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (TPWD) officials told Action 4 News that the bear could not remain in the area because it was not likely to stay away from inhabited areas or stop raiding trash cans.
Authorities trapped the animals and released it in the Devil's River State Natural Area just north of Del Rio early Friday morning.
Black bears are native to North America but have not been seen in the Rio Grande Valley in more than 50 years.
It's believed that the ongoing drought is causing bears and other animals to roam outside their normal ranges.
