I hate winter... One day of cool weather a year is plenty for me. My thermometer said 93 here in south Edinburg yesterday. The mesquites are beginning to bud out (a sure sign that winter is over). Now is the time for sunshine, yard work, and BBQ. I love the valley! I am buying some irrigation tickets tomorrow for me and all my neighbors.

My Valencia oranges should be ready for orange juice in March. Still have a tree full of Star Rubys (but my doctor says I shouldn't eat them!- what does he know!)

OH yeah...it is time for the snow birds to go home, so I don't have to dodge the traffic.

Did it ever start??

Purple Martins showed up at my birdhouses yesterday...haven't seen a Scissortail...another true sign of Spring. Haven't noticed the mesquites up here as yet..another couple of weeks for us, I would think.

I haven't seen any Purple Martins yet. I am a ham radiio operator and I have a 130 foot tower in my back yard and they like to sit on my antennas. One time I counted over 100. I'll start watching more closely. When I irrigate it always calls all kinds of birds...even a flock of ducks one time.

Just "survived" my first winter in Laredo. LOVE IT!!! I hate the cold so much. Spent the last two winters living in Nebraska. Snow by the foot. Temps at -20. Never getting above freezing for months. F that. Never again.

Got the garden in already. Got bit by mosquitoes already, but who cares. No snow.

Watch out for the Dengue!

Winter was over last month.....but it sure is friggin hot already.

I'm watching all my perennials start to bud out, but I just KNOW if I do my spring green up cutbacks before March, we'll get a freak freeze and I'll lose plants.

But yup, it sure is pretty down here!!

Gotta get those Poinsettas cut back soon, already overdue.
