Boy did it ever go up. I replaced my AC/heater a couple of years ago and the bill usually runs about +_ $150. All this cold weather caused it to go up to $240...not a nice surprise for Christmas time. I am guessing that the low temps on Monday and Tuesday are going to make it go up for this month too.

If you use MVEC and they just replaced your meter have them check it out. They had and issue a while back, think KRGV had a report on it.

Yes I use MVEC but they changed my meter some time ago. I think it is just those heat strips working overtime that did the deed.

What do you pay for electricity?

I'm at 9 cents on a 12 month contract now.

I don't know exactly what I pay but they put a comparison in the little magazine they put out and it is usually in the bottom half of the rates of the most common rates in STX. I don't think it is $.09 though. Usually the rate in Brownsville PUB is the lowest.
