We are taking our kids (19 months old) to SPI in a couple of weeks. Staying at The Pearl. It's been YEARS since I have been.

Intend to get a Q taco, of course, and eat at Dirty Al's. Any other musts? Places to avoid?

And please tell me there is a snow cone place on the island... Mama wants a REAL raspa.

Anything to do other than the beach?

Manuels in PI is a must hit if you are down that way, Gabriellas on the Island is very good.

Check out and do research on The Pearl, heard lots of bad things about it recently. You might want to check out tripadvisor regarding it. Do not overpay for that place if it is not updated. We went to a brunch there last year and it was about terrible.

Just be sure to go in with your eyes wide open. As of recently I know that they had not done anything to update it from the Sheraton days save for remodeling some of the bathrooms.

From your post it seems you are going down there at a non-peak season time. My advice to you would be to ask to see the room before confirming/checking in. If it sucks, leave and go to one of the other places as you should be able to get a room.

Not a bad idea. I can deal as long as it's not dirty or dangerous. I think we are paying like $100/night so I don't expect a whole lot.
