I am planning on smoking/BBQ on Sunday for our sunday family dinner. Asked Mrs. OVR to get me a brisket about 10-12 lbs at HEB in McAllen. When she came home she was a little upset. It seems that HEB has decided to stock only "prime" cuts of brisket and not the "choice" that they used to. The price was $3.68/lbs for a total cost of $42. Thats pretty steep. I think next time we'll try Sam's. It wasn't long ago that they put brisket on sale for holidays at $.99/lbs.
They said too many of their customers wanted prime quality...don't ask me why. If you cook it right it it is extremely tender and good.
Brisket is not only a good meal but the left overs make the best sandwiches for brown bagging.
