I will be in Harlingen for a couple of nights this week, any must eat places? I'll be in a state vehicle so can't justify driving to SPI.

Las Vegas Cafe is my favorite place in Harlingen... best enchiladas I've had & great tacos, nachos, and everything else.

I had Colletti's the first night and La Playa last night. Their chicken street tacos are legit, the green chili stew was OK, not the NM style I expected. I have learned some great lessons travelling around the state but one of the most important is that only Austin has breakfast tacos, everyone else has breakfast burritos. I had a really good papas con huevo yesterday at Taqueria La Michoacana and one today at stripes. Love the flour tortillas down there.

Edit to add, I had some great fried shrimp at the Boot Company in Raymondville also.

Stripes breakfast tacos are the best. Had a couple every morning during my last year of highschool. Bryan has a Stripes but the tacos were just not the same

Yes Stripes does have the best breakfast tacos from Corpus all the way down to the valley.

The best breakfast tacos in the Valley are at Steve's Food Mart on Biz 83 and Dilworth. Everyone else is competing for second. YWIA

Rocha's in Mission might have something to say about that. I think late last year they raised their price on a regular size breakfast taco, with home made flour tortilla, to $0.75 each. Before that they were $0.50 each.

I read they just got approved for a $800K expressway location in Mission. Their food is very good and affordable, always fresh. Sometimes the wait there during the winter was like 20 min or more. They started as a bakery, but morphed into the kings of Tacos in the upper valley.

When I lived out that way I could get 4 tacos and a DP for less than $3.00. Even in it's hey day as TexMart the taco places that turned into Stripes couldn't touch them.

Las Vegas Cafe not very good, may have caught them on a bad day. Everything tasted like old grease .
