Howdy Birders in the Valley:

The WolfCalls, along with another couple, plan to take a 3 - 4 day birding trip to the Valley starting around December 1, 2026. We would be interested in you Valley Bird Watchers' recommendations for:

favorite places to bird there in the late fall - beginning of winter
favorite restaurants (seafood, Tex-Mex)
motels strategically located near birding hotspots
must-see places to visit not related to birds
bird guide for old-timers for one day (we are all over 72)

I have visited a number of sites on the Web (see one below) with various recommendations about birding in South Texas.

If you go to the place in Weslaco, Nana's Taqueria is right down the road from there.

It's pretty good. Or at least it used to be really good. I know they did a big remodel recently, and since I moved out of the valley, I haven't been back much

Nana's is still good.

If you're traveling thru Harlingen at meal time, try Las Vegas restaurant. Best cheese enchiladas you'll ever have.
