My wife and I are looking to join a country club in tyler. We are in our mid 20s. I am in it for the golf and she is in it for the pool and food. Anybody have recommendations between these two?

Grew up in Tyler and back then Willowbrook was old money and Hollytree was new money. Sure that has changed but both were/are nice clubs with nice tracts. I'd say it would depend on your proximity to each place but I'd probably lean towards Hollytree.

I am not a member of either and this thread is 3 years old but hopefully it helps a little bit.

Take the tour of both and see what you like. Like the previous comment said, if you live on the south edge of town, proximity may make the difference.

I can only speak for Willowbrook as I have never been to the pool at Hollytree, but the pool at Willowbrook is fantastic. It's very large, and has a big shallow area for the kids. Typically lots of young families there in the morning and early afternoon. They normally clear out by mid afternoon. Lots of tables/umbrellas. Private cabanas. Plenty of waiters. On holidays, they have DJ's by the pool with games all day. They have family movie night by the pool on Fridays during the summer. They have adult swim nights on occasion.

I don't play golf, but my friends who play at Willowbrook really like it, but the Hollytree golf course is very nice too. The tennis scene at Hollytree used to be far superior, but that may have changed. Willowbrook has been trying hard to improve their tennis program, but I don't know if they have caught up or not.

Willowbrook has the sports grill that we really like. Casual atmosphere on the gold course. Good bartenders, and TV's for football. Menu at the sports grill is limited (compared to the main dining room), but it's good.

I am a member of Hollytree. We have a group of guys that play 9 or 18 every week. Let me know if you'd you like to join for one week to see what it's like. We are all mid 20's-mid 30's.

I am a member of WBCC. My partners are members of Hollytree.

Honestly, the New Grill at WBCC is the best restaurant in town. That alone is reason to join Willowbrook.

The course at WBCC is a lot easier/more open. And Hollytree has a lot of water.

My wife and all her bratty friends are playing a lot of tennis at WBCC, but as previously noted Hollytree had historically been more of the tennis club. That is changing.
