Macksimus has it nailed, those are the better places to eat in Longview. I used to go into Papacita's and eat free flour tortillas and chips and hot sauce for a meal. They used to get tired of us coming in and doing that and not ordering food. Oh well, it was good. Jucy's? Yes, the best burgers out there, I actually went to school with Ronnie's step daughter. (he owns the place) They have a nice house out on Lake Cherokee. Anyway, im sure no one wanted to know that. And yeah Fastrack I think was the name of that go-kart palce, I went by there the other day when I went home to Tatum and it looked closed.
I don't think I'd go to any of the bars in Longview. Of the 1-2 that are decent venues, the crowd there would drive me away.
Nothing says "cool" like 20 of your high school classmates doing coke and drinking natty light talking about how badass they were in 10th grade JV football.
McCann St. Grill - You will typically find most of the local high school graduates from the last 10 yrs or so hanging out here to start the night if they are in town. Dead as of late.
Gerald's - Downtown bar on Tyler Street. Easily nicest bar in Longview with smallest chance of running into the neck crowd. Generally, the hangout of the Longview "elite".
Sports Page aka "Roadhouse" - if you like to fight or see fights or smoke cigarettes this is the place to go. Guy to girl ratio is 10:1.
Memphis Bar and Grill - just heard about this one last weekend and checked it out. Formerly Thirsty's hotel bar where Neil McCoy used to hang out. Apparently, there is some chick called Lady Chaz that is an incredible singer and when she is playing the place is packed and is fun. She wasn't there when we went Sat. night. All neck clientele when we were there.
Yellowjackets - brand new sports bar in the old Whiskey River/Packard's and Ferrari's building. No review yet.
Legends - sports bar. Trash.
Players - regular bar. Trash.
Graham's Central Station - big country/dance club. Young crowd 18-25. Mostly trash.
Rio Palm Isle - apparently now a Tejano club which is a shame considering it's illustrious history.
Restaurants:
Trinity St. Bistro - next door to Geralds and also owned by Gerald. Nicest restaurant in Longview.
Dudley's - some of the best cajun food outside of Louisiana.
Papacita's - I think it sucks. Most people like it because they are captivated by the look of the building. It is two story and very unique for Longview but food is your average Mexican fare. I hate the chips with that spice bull**** on them.
Carlito's - in my opinion, the best Mexican food in Longview. Carlos is Gerald's brother from above. Best bet is to order one of the unique dishes from the right hand side of the menu. His basic Tex-Mex dishes are average.
Barron's - great for lunch. They have awesome food.
Pizza King - great Pizza. Probably better than most pizza joints you've been to outside of Chicago or N.Y.
Bodacious - best barbeque by far. It is better than anything I've found in Dallas.
King's Barbeque - almost identical to Bodacious. King is former Bodacious employer.
Country Tavern (Kilgore on HWY 31) - best ribs ever and frequently written up in Texas Monthly as one of the top ribs places in the state.
