Howdy everyone,

This is an East Texas Thread about the realignment.

As for me, I like what they have done with the realignment for my school, Pine Tree. While we will still be in for a woodshed beating in football, I am excited about the basketball and soccer districts they put us in. I also like the fact they kept us in the Dallas Region.

Those years they sent us south to Houston might have cost the soccer program two State Titles, knocked out in the area round two years straight after a full game, two overtimes and the first five shooters against Port Neches Groves which went on uncontested after our game with them to the state tourney. Not saying that we would have beaten the Dallas teams but playing in the Jesuit tourney, we played with some of the best 5A's from Dallas and beat a lot of them, so I figure we would have had a better chance playing in the Dallas Region.

Side note to macksimus...Gotta love the fact they put us with whitehouse and hicksville, bring on the fights...whoop!

It would have kept us from playing P.A. Lincoln two years in a row to go to state in basketball. Having Coach Friday flashbacks...

And soccer does suck. Longviewag, who are you, my little bro played soccer for PT.

Screw soccer, we didnt have a soccer team at our little ol 3A school down there in Tatum. Naw, soccer is cool but let's talk about teams moving up and down classifications. It really pisses me off that Tatum has to move down to 2A now. We always took pride in beating up on 4A and big 3A schools around the area. Now, who are we going to get to play us if we are sitting there in 2A whooping everyone's butt? This sucks man.

ruddy duck, you know me, just think about who you know that would post of these boards, i can only think of a handful of people and none of the others played soccer and football.

I didn't even look but if Tatum moved down, did white oak? i always wondered why white oak was still 3 A with the size of their school.

Nope, White Oak stayed in 3A. The cutoff was 415 this year to stay in 3A. Here is a link to all the re-alignments in case some of you don't have it.

The good news for 2A is that Celina is gone, the bad news is Tatum has come down. Gibby, is Tatum supposed to be good this coming year? They are in my highschool's distric, but I live in Wyoming so I dont know how teams are expected to be next year.

JJ, Tatum has ALWAYS competed in 3A reaching the 3rd round something like 10 out of the past 15 years, so Tatum should dominate in 2A for awhile.

As far as next year straight up, they lost 6 guys off the team this years State Championship team in 3A. 4 went D1 (2 to Houston, TCU, and Lousiana Lafayette) and two others to JUCO. They return a guy who will be top 30 in the state at RB (Lennon Creer) and a Sophomore QB that ran the team flawlessly to the Championship. A wide receiver (Darnius Moore) who will be ranked in the top 75 or so in the state. What they will have to do is replace the secondary and starting MLB. All those guys were All-State last year. Creer and Moore are the guys returning.

In other words, Tatum will be very good and to not at least get to the 4th round will be a huge dissapointment. That is just how Tatum is wired. We were when I was there in '98-'99 and have been a dominant force in 3A for years since back in the early 90's.

I remember my last 2 years of high school (94,95) at EF. Our super-intendant padded his resume by sneaking us into 3A (we were over the minimum by like 4, and we had 10 exchange students that year) so he could get a job at Marshall. We got stuck in Tatum's district. That sucked.

Oh god, it looks like Tatum, EF, Arp, and Garrison are all in the same district now.

Agoholic, I was in 8th and 9th grade when y'all did that. It was crazy because EF with Chris Harris (i believe that was then) was dominating in 2A at the time, when you guys moved up to our district it was kind of like feeding the lambs to the wolves. It also didnt help that in '94 we had 2 guys off that team who made it to the NFL, both RB's. But yeah from what I understand EF was pissed off about having to move up because that Superintendent did that. High School Footbal, gotta love it.

Chris Harris was well after that. He was '99-'00 I believe. I think that is when we went to the back-to-back state champ games. I can't really remember. But, we didn't have any D1 guys on our team back when I played. While I was there we consistantly made the playoffs, but never made it past the second round. It wasn't until after I graduated that they got really good.

But yeah, we were pissed. It didn't make any sense for us to make that jump.

That move to 3A did pay off for EF in that they won a state title in 2A when they moved back down.

And EF didn't make the playoffs in 93 my senior year at Waskom

I graduated from Arp in 98

EF never won a football State championship. They played in the title game, twice. But, they never won it.
