Who remembers the loop cruisers down 281 in Longview? Taco Bell to Taco Bell with their neon lights and ricers. Classic Longview.

Weren't they called the yellow turtles or some crap like that?

i remember hearing something about "the turtles" i know someone drug a guy down the loop tied to the back of his truck. not sure on the details, ill have to ask my brother.

That was many many years before our time. I recall that happening. You could see the makrs from the guys hip bone down the loop.

A PT bball player got run over that night, but not too seriously.

1990. I was a sophomore. The PT basketball player that got run over was Brett Murray who later started for the Aggies. He was a lot of fun to guard in practice. Dude could dunk like no other white boy I've ever seen.

I knew him back then but I can't remember his name but the dude that did that was high on something and ran over a bunch of people in the parking lot. He later told the court that he thought he was in a video game and was trying to run over as many people as possible to get points or something like that.

This was back when Longview and PT still had a rivalry and there were huge fights at both Taco Bells on a regular occurence.

This ricer thing was obviously way after my time.

Bret Murray was my assistant coach for PT my senior year (03) Real nice guy. Could still kill any of us today. Threw the ice water bucket on us in the showers when we clinched district against hallsville on senior night. He was awesome.

Ours was Maribeau Square, up Lamar Ave., through the Sonic, and back down in Paris. We were such tools.
