Looking for a nice place in Galveston to take the bride out to eat on Valentine's Day. According to Google maps, there is a Morton's steakhouse in the San Luis Resort and it links to the Morton's website. Morton's website doesn't show a location in Galveston though. Anyone know anything about this place? Any good? Any other recommendations would be welcomed. Doesn't have to be steak. We've been to Saltwater grill, Willie G's, and many of the others and were looking for somewhere new.

I've never heard the restaurant at the San Luis called Morton's. It's always been called The Steakhouse unless it's changed names recently. Very good high end steakhouse. Rudy and Paco's and 901 Postoffice get a lot of recs on here but I've not been to either.

Topwater Grill in Bacliff if really good! Don't live there anymore, but everytime I go to see the parents (Texas City), we go to the Topwater. Excellent seafood!

For V-day I will give you three options in no particular order. They are all good but I'm putting a premium on intimacy. Be sure to make a reservation!

901 Post Office - One of the island's newer establishments. It is in a renovated house so it has a cozy feel. Down home meets gourmet here. Very interesting and enticing dishes. Check out the menu.

The Steakhouse - Probably the best steak on the island and certainly the only place I've seen Kobe beef. Great crab tower salad. The Romain and Boston chopped salad is a winner too (split it).

Shearn's - Hands down, best place to watch sunset. Come early for your reservation and enjoy a cocktail. Most likely there will be a one man band playing light music or whatever you request. Chef Urs makes the best Bearnaise sauce I've ever had. Great lobster bisque too. Get the filet, shrimp dejonge or snapper. Go with snapper almondine if you like almonds.

Dammit Fairway!

I had kind of settled on Rudy and Paco but now you've got me thinking I need to ponder it some more. Is Shearn's the one at Moody Gardens?

You can't go wrong with R&P. The atmosphere will be buzzing a little more there.

i'd recommend rudy and paco's or shearn's. they're pretty comparable on price...shearn's may be a little higher. but i honestly think from appetizer to dessert, shearn's is the best fine dining experience on the island.

and yes, the lobster bisque is awesome. my favorite entree there is the snapper with the lump crab meat topping.

I have eaten at all of the aforementioned restaurants and I think my favorite is actually not listed above.

I have reservations at The West End Restaurant and Sand Bar in Sea Isle.
