It isn't accessible by land and there appears to be some sort of shady deed you can buy on the island for dirt cheap. So what's the deal with this place? Is it a cult? Something even more terrifying? TIA

you can buy what I think is about 1.5 acres of undivided interest. there are a lot of houses being built over there right now. eventually it is going to be a mess because people will abandon what they've built. i am sure they are good people who are building, but I am skeptical of all the building that is going on.

I'd be more interested in understanding why the peninsula is called that, and not an island. It has a natural break on the east (The Colorado River) and on the west (Pass Cavallo). Doesn't that make it an island? How can it be any less island than Matagorda Island.

Part of it was a bombing range, some of the big winged brass still journey there for R&R. Do a google map and you will see a landing strip and base housing. good friend of mine was an aid de camp for an AF general. Accompanied him there for duck hunting and fishing.

Not a cult! Just people that love to fish and/or fly. You can buy an undivided acre pretty cheap.

I thought the runway was for pilot training during the war...I never heard about bombs.
