Visiting the area in a couple of weeks and I haven't been to the area since I was a kid. Can anyone suggest "must try" places to eat?

1. Beaches - the best we've found in Port A. Great seafood & barbecue, plus featuring Texas wines & micro-brews.

2. Cafe Phoenix - very small mom & pop. A little more upscale on their limited menu.

3. Moby Dick's - great for breakfast. We've heard the lines are really long for supper.

4. Virginia's - good food and great views.

5. Snoopy's - a bit of a drive, as they're right by the bridge to Corpus. Good food, great views, only take cash.

6. We've heard great things about Shell's from many of our friends, although we've never dined there.

We went SPI this year, and were disappointed with food--better beach, waves but Port A seems to have better seafood, or we just missed right places in SPI. We love Seafood and Spaghetti works--first time , we thought it was pizza joint, but seafood is great. Robert's fish has some kind of lemon sauce that girls like and is good. We like Trout street--kinda pricy, but good and you can walk out to those yachts and get real close. Good Luck.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. Any places you would recommend for live music at night? Taking my kids and they are in their mid-20's.

Virginia’s, Trout Street and Fins all have views of the harbor so go for the location.
Venetian Hot Plat (Reservation only), Café Phoenix (BYOB), Pelican Club (Great Sushi), and Roosevelt’s (Best Steak) are more expensive but have the best food.
My recommendation for a burger is Wild Horse and pizza is The Gaff but both of these are dive bars if you like that sort of place. The Crazy Cajon has a good boil if that is what you are looking for and La Playa for Mexican. If there is something else that you are looking for specifically please let me know and I will give you the best recommendation I can. For live music check out The Back Porch, great atmosphere but no kids after dark. Last – slow down, all these places are not fast so go early get a drink and enjoy being on vacation with your friends and family. Oh the best fish plat is the stuffed flounder at Beach and Station Street Grill

Very small (10 tables, maybe) but worth almost any wait.

Had Fins tonight and it wasn't great. Ate at Virginia's last night and it was much better.

For what its worth took the dolphin cruise this evening and it was awesome. Lots of activity and very kid friendly.

We have eaten at Red Fish Willies, Fins and Virginias. Virginas was our favorite and the most expensive. I've decided that I hate the ferry and I'm glad I don't have to depend on it for my daily transportation.

Stopped by Lovetts. Nice dive but I couldn't handle the smoke smell. We ended up at the Back Porch. Nice.

Vacation is almost over but we've enjoyed our visit here.

Had Kody's last night after about 7 hours on the beach and another hour or so in the pool. It was good, but didn like the fact that you have to order your food at the door
