We're going to be in Galveston for a family vacation in a couple of weeks and my brother is freaking out saying the seaweed is awful there. Anyone know anything about it?

Hes right. It stinks to high heaven and its still coming in.

Meh. We were there a couple of weeks ago and there was lots of it washed up, but I wouldn't consider it a deal breaker. Didn't really bother us.

I was just there this weekend and it has gotten a lot better. There is still a lot washing up and it is floating in the water the first ten to 20 feet or so. It is not near as thick as it was and the smell is not bad anymore. It was bad enough wading in and fishing with artificial was pointless. You brought a clump of seaweed back everytime, even about 50 yards out. Live bait was ok since you weren't reeling it in as much.

Overall, we had small kids and it was ok we all swam in it and hung out on the beach.
