New bridge in Corpus has big ol crack | TexAgs

Open for business today. At least one side.

We drove up on it before they officially opened (by coincidence). People were parked on side of road waiting to get to go over it rather than just going on about their day over the old bridge. More power to them.

We get to drive over it Monday morning though - headed to CRP for flight.

Did you survive?

Howdy, REALLY thought I would DREAD IT, crossed today and actually ENJOYED IT!

It should drive a lot better than old one. Newness of roadway surface is gonna be smoother and the grades are less steep

Aggie_Boomin21, Howdy. You sir are correct! I think the really great thought that went into having the gentle grades was the key to me enjoying going across, not to mention the width of the new bridge, Hats Off to the Civil Engineers!!!

Massive improvement going to/from airport. That hard right turn at the bottom of the old bridge was always a little hair raising.

What we haven't done yet is exit into downtown from it.

When do they start tearing down the old bridge along with the abandoned court house(?) building next to it?

Howdy, I am en engineer, not Civil, Petroleum (not that Petroleum Engineers cannot be Civil, LOL), so I am totally intrigued by how you tear some as big as the old bridge down. Hate highest, cannot imagine being up that high tearing down, or building for that matter, like the New one. SCARY!!!

Center of old bridge is getting torn down this weekend. 36 hour window to get it done.
