I've been looking into the money that can be made in just one summer working offshore. I know its dangerous and the work si some of the worst that you can do but I've dealt with that before. I've checked some stuff out with exxonmobile but other than their website I have no idea how to get involved with any of that.

I don't have any experience and I'm in B/CS right now and am going to be in DFW this summer but I would expect the money would be worth the drive since I'd be staying offshore anyway. It would be nice if I could get involved with something this summer but I realize its probably too late for this summer. I would still like to know how to get involved with it maybe for next summer.

i worked construction offshore during the summers after my soph. and junior year of college which was about 3 years ago. you are right you can make a ton of money, i made over $10,000 each summer only working about 10 or eleven weeks each summer. and when i mean i made $10k i mean that was my take home after taxes. the work can be a little dangerous especially if you are new to it as i was my first summer. the days are long, but you might as well work a lot of hours if you are going to be stuck offshore anyways. when offshore we worked at least 15 hours per day, seven days a week, and the most i ever worked was 128 hours in a week. you can make a lot of money because after 40 hours you are on time and a half. so like i said the money is pretty good but you have to work for it. also you have to work with a bunch of un-educated idiots as well. the work is hard construction that will surely bust your a$$ but if you are interested i might be able to get you some contact information. the shop is out of freeport, don't know if you are close or not. also, while you are not offshore you will be expected to come in and work in the shop as someone's biatch.

That sounds awesome except for the whole having to come in when I'm not offshore part. My parents are in DFW and I go to school here in BCS so I was hoping I could get something that when I wasn't offshore then I wouldn't have to be down there. Although with that amount of money I don't think it would be too bad of a deal even if I had to pay for an apartment for 6 months and only stay down there for 4. I would appreciate it if you sent me some contact information. I have a buddy that might be interested in that as well. If you could please e-mail that info to me that would be awesome.

Jason Hayes is the guy that hired me, you can send him an e-mail or call him and ask him if they need help for the summer. he was out of the office today when i tried calling so you may have better luck tommorrow getting a hold of him.

You could try calling or emailing any of the major offshore drilling companies..Sometimes they will hire summer help..
