We want to go to Corpus this fall (late Sept/early Oct) for a 3 or 4 day vacation. The last time we were there was a couple years ago and it was just to go deep sea fishing for the day.

What are good places to stay? We'd like to be within walking distance of the beach because we will have our 1 year old. Don't want the most expensive but don't want Motel 6 either! Also is that a good time of year? We don't want it to be super hot and would like to go after peak vacation time. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort is on the beach on Padre Island. The beach in front of the seawall that HI sits on is closed to vehicular traffic, so its a good place for kids.

They are building a new Comfort Inn right across the street from the Holiday Inn that may or may not be finished in September.

Port A and downtown Corpus are about 25 minutes away from there, so you can really have a wide choice of restaurants beyond the small choice on the island.

I'm sure that applies to when he's going to the beach. Going out to dinner is something else entirely...

Thank you both We don't mind driving to stuff like the aquarium and restaurants, but we wanted to be close to the beach.

Well he behaves in restaurants pretty well right now but I'm guessing that will be going downhill pretty soon...so we might be eating sandwiches the whole time

Eat more seafood.

We've been taking ours to Port Royal since he was nine months old. It's close to CC has nice beach access and "the pool".

Good call on Port Royal.
