Holy moly. Just drove the wife and kids from South Carolina to Port Aransas to let them stay with the Texas family for a few weeks. I didn't realize I would return home to South Carolina with about 100 mosquito bites.

Please tell me its unusual and this is not a common occurance for this time of year at the beach. Wow, I felt like a piece of meat and have lost several pints of blood to those little creatures.

<<< about 100 mosquito bites.>>>

You must have been outside only a couple of minutes if you suffered only 100 bites.

We do have a significant mosquito population but it is especially bad now.

You timed your visit to arrive after an unusual July week of steady rain--the mosquitoes hatch 3 to 5 days after the rain and last a week or so before declining in population..

If you live near the Gulf, the mosquitos are seriously out of control.

It's the worst I've ever seen it.

I moved to Conroe last week and there are hardly any mosquitos here.

Amazing the difference 50 miles makes.

Mosquito Control of Lee Co. here in Fl. uses four DC-3's, and at least two helicopters (a Jet Ranger and a Huey) to spray constantly during the rainy season. You havn't lived until you've heard a DC-3 flying 150ft. over your house at 7am.

I know a guy who was in Matagorda Bay recently and was fishing for several hours in the later evening... his said his arms looked like he was completely sunburned, due to the skeeter bites...

I have family that live in a town on the coast. They have about 100 mosquitos that just hang around outside their door at night just waiting to come in when you open the door.

I can't believe I grew up in that stuff. I can't take it after living in College Station all of these years. I never get mosquito bites up here or see clouds of mosquitos flying around.

We have the joy of living 15 miles from LA, so the fact that we have air spraying going on constantly is quickly offset by the fact that our friendly neighboring coon a$$es don't. Plus Rita messed up the marshes, cutting down on skeeter eaters. Those bloodsuckers are more vicious than any time I can remember.

I generally have to take a bath in Off just to go water the lawn. Thankfully, I haven't had to do that much with all the rain the last month.
