How long do you want to ignore this user?
I am getting married this July and I am still looking for employment in the Killeen/Temple area. I have applied for several positions on Fort Hood with little success and have had virtually no leads elsewhere. I have almost three years full-time experience in program and event management as well as personnel management, budgeting, contract work, accounts receivable/payable, marketing, etc. I am looking for any opportunities in the area. If anyone can provide guidance, please let me know. You can e-mail me at searchag@gmail.com. I would be more than willing to forward my resume and information to anyone able to help. Thanks in advance.

-Still looking for any leads or help. Thanks!

Just curious, are you currently employed anywhere?

Currently employed full-time in Houston. I've been at my current position for almost three years now. I believe you and I have spoken to each other before. Weren't you substituting or trying to get your teacher certification?

We have a position that will be getting posted in the next few days. It is an office assistant position, is this what you are looking for?

Right now I'm looking for just about anything. Could you tell me a little bit more about it? Can I send you my information?

jobs.tamhsc.edu

  • click on "Search Postings" in the left hand navigation
  • Change your "Work location/city" to Temple
  • The position is listed as "Office Associate"

My contact information can be found on our website. The only person listed under the Temple campus (bottom of page). http://medicine.tamhsc.edu/learning-resources/contact.html

Edited for broken link.

3rdGeneration - I don't. However I am definitely willing to learn and am very interested in any opportunities you have. My parents have built six houses, five during my lifetime, so I've been around home building but I wouldn't say I know a ton about it.

linwvr - Subbing may definitely be a possibility. I am interested in teaching/coaching. How long would it take to get my certification in high school math and then how hard would it be to find a job in the area? Would I be able to teach by September '10 or would I have to wait until Jan '11?

Thanks for the help.

You could get it all done by the fall. I'm not sure the need for HS math....keep an eye on the employment websites. It's taken me 8 months to find an elementary position. The certification isn't the hard part, it's finding a job...

Feel free to email me if you want to talk more about it.... linwvr at gmail

I've always heard high school math and science are in need but I could be completely wrong. I'll check the local districts to see what they need. I'm not quite ready to give up on other employment opportunities but teaching seems like an interesting avenue. I'll e-mail you if I think of some questions.

Yeah, I've heard that too buuuuut I've also heard there's a shortage of teachers in Texas but apparently Central Texas is an exception to that )

I've been LOVING being in the schools so it's something to keep in mind. It's super easy to get on the sub list and get some experience in the classroom to see if it's for you.

Try McLane Company. They're always hiring. They have three different locations in Temple, so it's a HUGE company.

I'll check into McLane Co. I'm a little eerie of a company that is "always hiring." Kind of like Reynolds & Reynolds in College Station is always hiring but everyone knows it is a horrible company to work for. Thank you very much for your help though.

Well, McLane will work you hard. It's a 7-5 job, and you're busy from start to finish. But, it's a BIG company with a lot of positions. That's what I meant by "always hiring". I didn't mean that turnover was necessarily high. Just that there's always an opening somewhere.

You can try McLane, but they had a recent HUGE layoff. From what I understand, they aren't hiring right now.

Subbing is your best bet, short-term.

Good luck.

The office I worked at hasn't had a layoff. I still keep in touch with people in that office, and she said they haven't had one. One of the things they boasted about when I worked there was that they've never had to lay off anyone in that office.

I checked out their website and they only had three open positions all in human resources. I don't have a human resources background although I have hired/fired and developed employee training programs while in college and in my current position. I'll keep checking and thanks for the lead.

If anyone else knows of industries in the area that are hiring or if you're looking for a bright, hard working individual to join your company please let me know. Also if anyone knows the secret to getting on Fort Hood that would be nice too.

I applied for a position with Scott & White in Temple where I would be involved with the Children's Miracle Network. Does anyone have any information or contacts on the position or organization locally? Thanks.

Children's Miracle Network does some great stuff for the kids, and with the new pediatric hospital going in at Kings Daughters Hospital the opportunities within the institution may be great. Good Luck.

I hear that MAT (McLane group, not McLane Company) is/will be hiring soon. I know that they are building another building at Industrial/Loop.
