Back to state in as thrilling a baseball game as I have seen in a while.

I have also now been awake 25 and a half hours.

Waiting for dogs to finish dinner so I can get to be.

Not much of a Rogers fan for sure, but happy for Coach Klaus, who is a great coach and an even better human being!

Congrats to Rogers Baseball team. I disagree a little bit about Klaus. I used to umpire high school baseball and he is the only coach I have ever restricted to the dugout. However, he was at Rosebud Lott and their teams were not very good and were getting whooped. So, Klaus probably was just doing what he could. Off of the field, he was cool to talk to.

Klaus is a very good baseball coach and a great guy. He, like a lot of coaches, becomes very intense once the games start, but he only has his players best interest in mind.

I was a very small part of some very successful baseball teams while in RL. The two state tournament teams as a matter of fact, but the best RL team I ever saw was the one he, Klaus, coached to the Regional Final. Had the Pomykal, Hoffman, Neal kids that pitched with Honeycutt behind the dish and Williams over at first. A very formidible pitching staff with some very good hitters as well. The state tournament teams just had one very special player on them, along with some other very good players of course, but when you strike out 19, get a pop up to second base and a fly out to left field every game, it doesn't take much else to get W's.

RL has had a long line of very good baseball coaches going back to the Tim Benton days. Followed of course by Chase Mann who took the two teams to the State Tournament, followed very briefly by Melvin Bates (who now has a state championship of his own) and now Chema Chavez. There have also been a very good line of pitchers to come through Rosebud-Lott, going back to Michael Dixon in the late 80's, to Wyatt Zipperlin in the early 90's, Kyle Parcus in the late 90's, Pomykal, Halfmann, and Neal in the early 00's, and Chance Ryan in the late 00's.

Nevertheless about the history at RL though, this is Coach Klaus's time with Rogers, and I truly hope he is able to win a State Championship baseball ring to pair with his State Championship Football Ring.

Go Eagles!

Any word on whether the game will be played/moved due to weather?

I'm from Weimar, was at the game against Rogers last Thursday. It is a shame that either team had to lose that ballgame. For both teams to fight so hard and come from behind so late is a tribute to the kids, parents and coaches from both towns.

That game in Blanco was an incredible baseball game worth the long drive home afterward.

It was the best of what high school baseball can be.

Just in today from the state semis

Rogers wins, and we move on. LONNNNNNGGGGG rain delay. Started the game in the rain and after the second batter lost control and had a bat slip out of a wet hand, they finally stopped play after two innings.

It was the ten am game. Then it restarted pretty close to one oclock. The next three games will run late.

Greg Mendoza had a strong pitching performance with relief from Chance Marek in the last innning. Hero hit was a three run triple by the designated batter.

Now I am pretty sure we face the juggernaut this year--if Brock wins in the next game as expected. Sure wish Travis Perkins had not blown up his arm and had surgery this year. We have great pitching, but with him I know we would have had an ace for tomorrow.

I don't know, but guess Ryan Fares will get the start in the championship game. He had some incredible games this year, so I hope he has one more left to give.

Chance Marek got the start and pitched a one hitter of his own. Two gems by two incredible seniors. I may link some of my photos from Facebook.

Rogers Eagles, state champs. Sounds good to me.
