Klaus is a very good baseball coach and a great guy. He, like a lot of coaches, becomes very intense once the games start, but he only has his players best interest in mind.
I was a very small part of some very successful baseball teams while in RL. The two state tournament teams as a matter of fact, but the best RL team I ever saw was the one he, Klaus, coached to the Regional Final. Had the Pomykal, Hoffman, Neal kids that pitched with Honeycutt behind the dish and Williams over at first. A very formidible pitching staff with some very good hitters as well. The state tournament teams just had one very special player on them, along with some other very good players of course, but when you strike out 19, get a pop up to second base and a fly out to left field every game, it doesn't take much else to get W's.
RL has had a long line of very good baseball coaches going back to the Tim Benton days. Followed of course by Chase Mann who took the two teams to the State Tournament, followed very briefly by Melvin Bates (who now has a state championship of his own) and now Chema Chavez. There have also been a very good line of pitchers to come through Rosebud-Lott, going back to Michael Dixon in the late 80's, to Wyatt Zipperlin in the early 90's, Kyle Parcus in the late 90's, Pomykal, Halfmann, and Neal in the early 00's, and Chance Ryan in the late 00's.
Nevertheless about the history at RL though, this is Coach Klaus's time with Rogers, and I truly hope he is able to win a State Championship baseball ring to pair with his State Championship Football Ring.
Go Eagles!
