I was putting out fire ant bait next to my house this morning and termites fell out of the wood portion near where I am putting the fire ant bait.

How much would extermination cost in this area (Temple) and who would you recommend? The builder was to have sprayed, but this house was built in '98, and cheaply, I might add.

Help, please.

EXPENSIVE! No one is interested in a one time treatment, they all wanted a contract. We have an entry garden/area that they brought sand into...apparently termites like sandy soil and that is the only place we ever found them.

We ended up buying the stakes and treating the perimeter ourselves.

Where would I get these stakes? I have no problems with doing it myself..

Thanks, MOM!

Had termites in our first home, whih was probably a little older than the one you have, but not by alot. Anyways, had to have some studs and sheet rock replaced. Wasn't too bad considering. Had Rudy's out of Temple do the work. Although we have had them give us some estimates on work since then that has been too high for us to commit to so who knows.

Any pest control company in the area should be able to treat them for you. If you are interested, I am pretty sure at least one of the owners of BMI is an Aggie.....

We had our yard sprayed by them just the other day...

I think typically it is around 90 bucks or so to have a yard/home taken care of for a one time treatment. Although if you sign up to do it with them quarterly it goes to about 80 a treatment and they give you a better guarantee...

I think you can get the stakes at HD or Lowes......let me email hubby and maybe??? he will remember the name of the one he uses.

okay...he paid an exterminator(PhD Aggie)to come spray the house perimeter about 15 years ago....the guy came back to check for "live" evidence and saw none

from that point on we have used "dry" treatment and as soon as hubby found the stakes that has been his type of choice.

He said they are Terminator Termite Stakes and he changes them at half their lifespan AND you can see if there are dead/live termites in the tubes when you throw them away. We have never had live evidence after the first "wet" treatment. We also check the adjoining garage wall at the baseboard where the damage was originally found at least once a month...more if the leaves are blowing in!!!
