Have a friend who is getting married in Waco in May of 2011.

Any suggestions of catering places will be appreciated.

Not looking for chain restaurant catering either. Something a little more upscale but within reason.

Waco's Bestyett Catering - no question. They can work with a tight budget or go as extravagant as you want. We use them personally as well as for all our corporate events.

I know this may sound crazy, but The Chicken Place out of Marlin is GREAT! They catered our wedding reception of over 500. All food was served on white china with real silverwear. NO styrofoam, paper, plastic etc. Napkins were paper, but nice stuff that was very thick and almost felt like cloth. We had grilled chicken breast, new potatoes, green beans, corn cassorole, and Westphalia noodles. The servers all had on tuxedo shirts with aprons and black slacks. The owner's name is Mr. Vickers I think if my memory serves me correctly. He will be happy to meet with you and go over menu, pricing, serving options, etc. The phone number is 254.883.3747.

I know a woman who just catered a reception held at the Paladium...let me see if she has a phone number

also get a quote from Big Daddy's. Don't let the name fool you. They have the best tasting food of anyone. Also, if you're interested, I am best friends with the owner of The Roosevelt. By far, the nicest venue in Waco.

Ruby's Dad owned Mynar's for years until his death...her brother, Junior, ran it until it was sold(not too awfully long ago)

OK, I know the family well, but I thought their brother Rick ran the place now.

If only you would have been a little sooner about the venue! I think she looked at The Roosevelt but it was a little out of her price range so she decided to go with The Phoenix Ballroom.

And thanks for the catering recommendation - I've already passed along that recommendation!!

Any other wedding suggestions in Waco btw are appreciated as well.

ZEB's in China Spring or in Hewitt. Recently catered a local Aggie's wedding. Very nicely done. Good food too.
