You know its just a matter of time before it filters down to us at the middle schools.

What gang fights? Specific incidents?

Happened yesterday. Was on KCEN. A kid's face got smashed in by another student who had on brass knuckles and things got quite bloody as you can imagine. Student is still at large. From what I heard from the teachers who had kids at THS, the kids were saying it was part of some gang initation and that these fights had been escalating over the last few weeks and things were going to get worse.

Not that serious. I've been there over 20 years and that's the first time I've seen anything like that.

That's good, Jan. Really wasn't trying to open up a can of worms, but didn't know if this was a slow problem that was progressively getting worse. I can remember growing up in Bryan and Jane Long MS getting a bad rap since a kid got stabbed there a year or two before I went through. Kids this week have been kinda rowdy anyway and I'm sure part of it has to do with the full moon we just had.

SoT kids were crazy this week too at Belton. I was over there a little more often than normal this week and talked to the principal and said the same thing.

Definitely the full moon.

I'm not trying to gloss over the incident.

Bad things happen at all places; we just seem to have our share of over scrutinized bad things and under scrutinized positive things.

It deeply saddens me that our positive traits get ignored.

jan, that's because your football team has sucked a few years now! You let the city have a winning team and you would swear the students were Nobel Laureates with hearts of gold and the ability to move mountains!

While I say this, tongue in cheek, it is unfortunately true that Temple High has been under a magnifying glass and only the bad is reported. Is the HS itself only promoting its bad antics or is it shoddy journalism that only reports the negatives.

The media likes to ignore that great things. Honestly.

Or put them way in the back of the paper below the fold.
