Back in the day, my oldest daughter was a new driver and hit a guy wire to a utility pole, causing it to snap and break much like the picture in the link. Supposedly the electric line is auto shut off when there is movement but that day the line was arcing on the street sending out sparks. Daughter opened the car door and got out while that was going on and two women across the street were screaming for her to stay in the car....it still makes me sick to think of the possible consequences....she ran through the arcing lines over to the women.

The bill sent to us/USAA for the crew to replace the pole, re-run the line was $17000.

wow - that is pretty scary.
