Never have I been so glad to not be at a game at Kyle. Yesterday I got to watch 97 kids from Cameron Yoe perform twice at the Area band competition in Belton. These kids swept the competition winning both the prelims and the finals by an overwhelming score. Eastland, Clifton and Thorndale rounded out the 4 advancing bands. I can't wait to watch them perform at the STATE Marching contest at Alamodome on the 7th!

I appreciate your support for your local band. But, you'd rather be watching a band competition than be at Kyle Field? Regardless of score or situation, I doubt that has ever been uttered before or ever will be again. Torbush wow!

Her child is in that band.

I think she can be forgiven since she's been going to Aggie games since I was in elementary school.

I should know. Her family is the reason I became an Aggie.

Saw the Cameron band play last year at DKR in Austin in the semi final game. They are good.

Saw the Hearne band play recently. Don't know if they're a "good band" but they damn sure have fun and entertain the crowd!

I was at Kyle yesterday. I can't say it was all that great. The Cameron band probably could have caught the ball and stopped missouri's running game better than the Ags did......

"yoeman" is a namesake.

Caroline Yoe donated land to Cameron Schools following the death of her husband, Charles Yoe, in 1921. The District adopted his name for the school and mascot.

And now you know the rest of the story.

TempleAg - there was a time in my life where I would have never dreamed that I would miss a game at Kyle for ANYTHING - much less a band contest. But watching my child perform changed all of that. Jan is right I have been going to Aggie games/matches of every sport since before I could walk.

Priorities change, another thing I never thought I would say. Before kids Aggie sports was my priority no matter what sport. The Aggies will play another game. My daughter may never win another Area Band competition.

A Yoemen - Captain Pablo gave you the explanation of how we got our name - as far as a mascot we use an "archerer". As far as what a Yoemen is - we hold a lot of the values of Fighting Texas Aggies.
Each year many of the top students from Yoe High make that 60 mile move down the road to Aggieland!

"What is a Yoeman?" is kind of like asking the question "what is an Aggie?"
