I spoke to a couple of non basketball coaches about this.

Yes, it happened. The football coach I spoke with said Coach Sanders played her second string the entire game. They don't have a third string.

The Houston area team was very, very bad. We are pretty good.

I have nothing more to offer than I suppose they could have just stood there holding the ball or dribbling around all game.

We definitely should never play this team, again.

Exactly, jan.

What's a team supposed to do, just not shoot? 99 points is not an unreasonable amount. Yes, even high school teams make it to triple digits sometimes..

Or, is it the 3 points scored by the other team? How is it Temple's fault that the other team couldn't hit the broad side of a barn? Should Temple just let them score? What's the point of taking the floor if you're gonna let the other team score?

I do not see this at all like a 99-3 football score, where the winning team is airing it out when up by 80 points or something. 99 points is far from an outrageous number of basketball points.

Our middle school has a traditional boys against girls game called the Grudge match on the day we let out for Christmas. All attend but ONLY the 8th graders can play. There are a number of "special" rules to keep it close, plus it is a dollar a point fund raiser for charity--parents can buy points for their kids' team.

This year was an strange year--a top notch, tall, athletic girls team, and a boys team that has not won a game in two years.

All the strange rules had to be applied to help the boys for the first time ever.

One was that the girls had to keep at least one foot in the lane when playing defense.

Another was the boys got double points when they made a basket.

Girls had to dribble and shoot with left hand only.

Even with all the special rules--girls won the game.

By a big margin--and without some parent having to write a huge check.

Long post, but the point is.......

Sometimes you are just THAT good and they are just THAT bad.
