if you know anything cool, or you know anything you might think is cool, about Corsicana, Texas, please post it. I may go there someday and would like as much information as possible about the place. Info on restaurants, bakeries, buildings, historical events that killed alot of people, caveman drawings, etc. The more, the better.

First oil refinery West of the Mississippi, Feb 24, 1899 named the J.S. Cullian Company (later to become Magnolia Oil Company...now Mobil) was located in Corsicana (also claimed the first active production oil field.)

During a local gas war, Bop once bought regular gas at the pump for 14.9 cents a gallon.

Early 20th Century Interurban "light rail car on display", intersection Beaton Steet & Hwy 31 (downtown Corsicana) next to Visitor's Center.
Corsicana was part of the North Texas Interurban light rail system network (with Dallas as the hub).
Light rail passenger vehicles are now AGAIN gradually moving north from Dallas.
Should be a commuter's dream come true (as it was in the early 1900's when most rural roads were dirt and mud).

back @ Richfield HS, some Corsicana footballers came to our house to watch a hoop game, they talked crap all the way through

we won

after the game, the morons stood outside, still drunk & fist pointing, calling us everything they could think of, etc,...until our football guys whupped their a**es into the concrete

we had some guys on the team that signed with TCU, SMU, & Houston, which was big deal then

they were dirt cowboys

Who invited 'em over ?

they beat us in football that year, those guys climbed up into the middle of the Richfield students for the hoop game

what was funny, after the beat down outside, the cops showed and hauled the Corsicana guys away

Rural bubbas got what they deserved from a more sophisticated crowd headed to SMU, TCU, t.u. or where ever.

Bet their folks had money for karate or kung fu lessons too.
