why does this town always keep places that sux? I can't stand Shipley's. Their donuts are "OK" when they are fresh, but forget it the next morning. Also, their kolaches are hotdogs. I do see where they are opening a donut Paradise on Lake Shore across from Village Green apartments.

I never had a bad experience there (but it's been years since I bought anything from there). My sister was treatly rudely there and she'd bought from them fairly often on weekends before that. Not sure if that was a frequent occurance with other customers or not.

wait, Daylight in Hewitt is closed? The last time I was there a whole different crew was working and we could tell changes to our tried and true items had been made but it didn't look like they were about to shutter it!

Seriously Shipley donuts and cinnamon products need to be eaten within 3 hrs...other wise they dry out to badly to redeem themselves.

Krispy Kreme is the only donut since the original Warren family JackNJill closed that is worth anything the next day! The first time we tried KK we bought them hot late on a Friday night and they were still good on Monday morning!

Don't know about the woodway location, but I heard it's closed. And yes, KK was the best. I cried for days when they closed!!! but lost about 15 pounds afterward, too.

My daughter asked about the Bosque/Wooded Acres location for Daylight just now. Hewitt's was closed as I drove by but that isn't unusual at 230 in the afternoon.

Waco is weird like this...someplace that would die quickly elsewhere is tremendously accepted and the opposite, likewise.

someone said the owner had some stores in the Dallas area that he closed too. I believe his wife died a little while ago, and he wanted out. Understandable. Hopefully, the new one on Lake Shore can satifiy my donut cravings. Shipley's sure can't

The Hewitt Drive location was open at 1045 this morning. People coming and going like normal!!!

Hewitt must be closing as soon the early rush is over...never used to close before 1-130ish.

The donuts there are different than they were 2-3 years ago so maybe it is held by different owners. Time will tell.

I think they close at noon. New owners a year or two ago and it does taste different. The original owner (think last name was Adkins but not sure) was much better. Now it is ran by an Asian family but cooks/bakers look same. Not as good but still go as my son loves it. Oh well you're right time will tell.

The guy that runs it now reminds me of the soup nazi from seinfeld...

I was being PC and not going to mention that EVERYONE working at the Hewitt Daylight was Asian but okay so...after a couple of month hiatus my daughter and I went to the drive-thru and placed our order...when the guy repeated it to the clerks you absolutely could not understand a word he said. My daughter said in all seriousness...Rots a ruck getting awa ordah state!

She is so quiet and mild mannered that it stunned me...glad I hadn't taken a sip of awa Croke!

LOL. Not everyone is Asian. Think I will pay them a visit tomorrow. I repeat my order at least three time because I can't understand either. Oh and the lady yelling the order at the drive thru window has a less than appealing screechy voice! I want a donut right now.
