I've heard the fort hood before but I can usually tell it's from the west. This sounded south. Could be wrong.

the 9-engine test didn't fire that night. but a merlin single engine did. happens almost every day, a single engine test is nothing new.

SpaceX is also in roughly the same direction as Fort Hood (if you're listening from Temple). Highly unlikely an engine test would make noise that appears to come from the South.
