I found a good breeder in Harker Heights. We are getting one of their females. The last I heard they have 3 girls and 1 boy left. The husband is stationed at Fort Hood and this is the 2nd litter they've produced. They have one sire and two dams.

Those things look like pit bulls. Are they vicious death machines like pit bulls?

I'll take your question as sarcasm, but give it a straight answer. Not one source I've read has stated American Bulldogs are aggressive like Pitt Bulls have the reputation of being. I'm a firm believer that its the owner not the dog.

it's both - the owner and the dog. Pit Bulls are genetically engineered killers. That some or even most are "wonderful pets" does not change that. Just like you can "tame" a wild animal, everything is fine until someone hits the tripwire and suddenly has 500 pounds per square inch of jaw sunk into their throat. And usually that trip wire is nothing more than being in the wrong place at the wrong time...

As for American Bulldogs, no, they do not have the reputation of pit bulls, and the real ones do not have that terrier ancestry that predisposes them to aggression. But even their advocates have care tips that raise red flags - that they require intense training/socialization, avoidance of certain situations, as in, God forbid, beiing around another dog, playful kids, or strangers. Worth noting is the American Bulldog, according to one site I read, is in the top 10 most banned breeds of dogs worldwide.

Good luck, though...

It's all how you raise them. My American Bull Terrier is the biggest pansy there is. The house cat has her number that's for sure.
