6-story IMAX Theater will be built at the Temple Mall next year. Also, a 12-screen Cinemark Theater complex will be built at I-35 south of the Loop.

Will temple mall ever get better stores/selections? That place is depressing.

The IMAX will be In the Temple mall, at 31st Street and the Loop. Where the premier theater already is...

Cinemark will be at the Outdoor America Mall.

Y'all think they may re-open Orange Julius?

This excites me greatly. I hate the temple theater but the Belton one as nice as it is is a bit of a drive cmpared

Many childhood memories of going down "the hill" to get to that mall by the back entrance. My aunt's studebaker could barely make it back up that hill though. One time we even slid back down when the road was wet and were threatened not to tell anyone else in the family.

Haha. My main memories of that mall are:

Luby's after church (cubed green jello)
Orange Julius after Luby's
Waist deep dead crickets on the sidewalk

Tenn,

We may not be talking about the same Mall. Luby's was at the Old Town and Country Mall, now called the Outdoor America Mall. There was also a Beall's, Orange Julius, Monkey Ward's, and I believe a Woolco. In subsequent years there was an RV dealer, Denim and Diamonds, and Room Store.

I remember when the outdoor mall had Far Away Places and Figure World. And Cactus Canyon was the first time I used a fake ID.

It was always a special treat to come in from Cameron and visit Orange Julius.

Easily one of my favorite memories as a child. I still crave those drinks. That cardboard cut out of Brad Dusek seemed huge to me, at the time.

BTW, I also remember when there was a Garden/Pottery type store next to what used to be Bealls.

Figure World was out there for a while, also.

Went to the new Hollywood Theater in Belton Friday night. You could hear the movie next door through the walls and no one explained when purchasing tickets the difference between the box seats and general admission.

What is the difference?

Difference is "general admission" is the first 10 rows or so that are on the floor level when you enter the theater. Reserved or whatever it is called that costs an extra buck or so is the seating that goes up towards the back, where 95% of movie goers usually sit.
