Does anyone know the story on Fat Charlie's in the Cefco on the corner of Kegley and Adams? I'm going to miss the Subway that was previously at that location.

i've been seeing the digital ad for some time now and curious. FWIW the Subway moved in with the new Cefco down about 1 mile on the right

haha thanks! I live between the two Cefcos and never really drive towards Belton, so I hadn't noticed!

We must be neighbors because I am in that exact spot.

The second cefco now has the pizza hut and the subway.

Our cefco will have this new sandwich place that will apparently feature hot dogs. I also hope it is good.

What was surprisingly good yesterday was the Mexican food place on adams where the scrapbook store used to be. I got a to go order from the drive through, and I almost thought I was back in Laredo. I really do miss South Texas Mexican Food.

Do you know the name of this place? I haven't been there yet.

No, closer to town. Peurto Jalisco or very close to that.

Good grief. How are we supposed to keep up with all these restaurants with "Jalisco" in the name. How many are there? About 50?

I'm encouraged to hear a good review of the new Jalisco's. Their coupons from HEB are also valid at the Jalisco on 31st by Church's Chicken, so I assumed they had the same food, but all I had heard until now were negative reviews.

been wondering about that place. there's a similarly named place on 35, but i've never stopped there.

i have a plan to start a restuarant name Sol Taqueria Jaliscos de Migues and put them all out of business.

Love the name.

I went to the drive through and took home, so have no idea how it is inside. Food is the most similar to what I could get in Laredo that I have found in Central Texas.

I MISS Laredo Mexican food.

c-jags: Puerto de Jaliscos is the same restaurant that was under 35...they had to move due to I-35 expansion. Haven't been to the new location but the old one was great.

It is open and has a drive through. I tried it last night. I was surprised to see a pretty full menu including burgers and salads.

I will try something else next time, the dogs have skins and were too hard for my bad teeth to chew. Taste was great.

I had sweet potato fries cause I like them, but they have regular fries also.

the fat charlie with spicy italian sausage and sweet peppers is awesome.

as for the story, the fikes (the exhorbitantly wealthy folks that own cefco and live in the hideous la quinta-looking house on 317) started this up as their own concept. i am pretty impressed and hope it sticks. they're also using bread from hamilton's (megg's).

on the various jalisco restaurants: the family that owned the jaliscos on central in belton sold that location and opened "sol de" by the old walmart, follower by the other locations. they also had the "puerto de" under 35 as a seafood-centric concept. as mentioned, they took their condemnation $$ and re-did the scrap booking store. the dining room has a cool view of the golf course.

Their house is not hideous.

The Fikes' are originally from Cameron as was Drayton Mclane. Guess all those that talk about how bad Cameron is and how nothing good comes from here missed those.

FWIW. I don't care for Drayton's or James Ray's house.

Another bit of trivia is they lived on the same street a couple of houses apart. My family lived a couple of houses the other way on the same street but I am still waiting on my millions.

You have to go almost to Moody. It certainly stands out and I've never seen the final landscaping. Maybe the red tiled fountain inside is a bit much but to me it's a house with a lot of rooms.
