Yeah, I know it's a "golf course" in name only, and you generally cut the life of your irons by several months every time you played on the clover and dirt fairways, but I played on that course since i was a little kid, sometimes with my dad. Then, years later, I golfed out there with my own kids. I did play there in recent years, mainly to enjoy nice weather, get some driver and par 3 work, get heckled by the apartment dwellers on hole 9, and avoid the crowds at sammons or mill. The guillens have been as nice a folks as your ever want to meet, and I guess Roland just felt it was time to let it go.

RIP, old nine. You weren't pretty, but you sure gave me some great memories.

Sad. Got my first set of well used clubs out there(3,7,9 and a 3 wood). Took a few lessons from Paul back in the day (circa 1987? 6th grade).

That is too bad. Back in the early 90's me and my buddy would get dropped off in the morning, play 36 holes, order pizza, then play 18 more before our parents would come get us. I learned the game there.

Had many good times on that course. Learned to play there. I've never had hole-in-one, but the closest I ever came was on #1 on that course (ball hit the pin and stopped 3 inches from the cup). Sad to see it go.

Late to the game, I generally hang out in the Zoo but decided to venture over here for some old home flavor. To be honest, last time I drove by TC a few months ago I thought it was deserted. Had no idea it was still open. I too learned the game there back in the 70's. Mr Paul was super nice to us little punk kids back then, our parents would drop us off and we'd play 36 at a time. Roland was probably in high school or fresh out back then. Had no idea the Guillens had the place that long.

Hey some of you guys might know this too. Any of y'all remember Marvin? The guy that used to sell used balls over the fence on #4 by the ladder? Heard he got sent away for murder. True?
