When I said I worked with ray it was with my swing, not employment wise. When I started I was a 5 handicap and played a big sweeping draw, with just about every club in the bag. I could not hit a fade, punch shot, nothing but a nice big high draw. My short irons were spinning hard right to left and off the greens.
We broke my swing down and started from scratch-grip, stance everything. The one thing he told me, just as every other teacher will tell you is it will get worse before it gets better. He was right, one day during a practice session I hit 21 shanks in a row with my sand wedge. I become so frustrated I broke my wedge over my knee and left. Not even a thanks, see you around-just left.
The next day ray called me and said, got it figured out come see me. When I got there he had a piece of 1" piece of PVC and told me to take my address with my heels of my feet on the PVC pipe. I swung a couple of times to get used to my weight being towards my toes, or in golfer terms the balls of my feet. Several shots later, no shanks ever again.
Ray is very good at what he does, teaching golf at every level. I think from experience he is better suited for teaching beginners but he can and does work well with better players.
Is he eccentric yes, does he like women-oh yeah who doesn't. A couple of years working with him he did wonders for my swing and I went from 5 down to 1 to 1.5 in two years with a lot of hard work. He taught me a lot about the short game which was a strong suit of my game.
Some great stories about a lot of Tour Pros that live in Texas and a few others. Is he someone I would let babysit my kids-yes but only if it was at his shop. At the end of the day, I only cared about the improvement of my golf swing and playing golf.
Antunes at Wildflower only teaches there and has nothing to do with the club. He could have played on the tour if he could just putt. Fantastic teacher as well just don't get him to teach you about putting. Very simple but does not use modern tools, ie videotape. Majority of adults are more visual learners, but he is great as well. Antunes charges I believe 60 an hour or 150 for 3 lessons of an hour each.
Jonathan Antunes has the Academy at Lake Waco. Played at Baylor good young man. I once played against Jonathan in a two day tourney in Crocket damn good player too.
If your close to Gatesville, pick a twin doesn't matter which one both are good as well. Just don't pay attention to their country accent or their attire their both players.
Also Bill Euler is the pro at Wildflower, you would do just as well to go to the golf board and get lessons.
