I just wanted to see if anyone on here had recommendations of a lender for a mortgage in Waco. We're starting to look into buying our first house, and everything I see says to get pre-approved first.

We're planning on getting 3-4, and have already gone through our bank. Any other recommendations for the Waco area?

We refinanced through oak mortgage.. I would assume they do first time home mortgages as well. Real easy to work with, and closed within 2 weeks. I have a friend that works there as a loan processor and he's a great guy.

I went local with my first mortgage and learned my lesson as the service was equally crappy and they sold my loan to one of the big boys as soon as I signed on the dotted line.

For my refinance, I used Pentagon Federal Credit Union online, and I was really happy with the rates, and the service was as good as the local guys. If you are viewing this as a starter home, I would recommend their 5/5 ARM product, https://www.penfed.org/55-Adjustable-Rate-Mortgage/

We've used Affiliated Bank (Rick Koehn) and Wallick and Volk (Pam Jones). W&V are a little less in their closing costs. They were both great to work with and gave us really good rates. They sold to WF and BOA quickly, but that didn't matter to me as long as I got the lowest rate. The rates were significantly lower than Educators CU and Extraco.
