Howdy folks,

Is there a place I could take my kids on a Friday or Saturday night that is family friendly, at least in the early hours. I know that any place can and will get rowdy after 9-10 o'clock.

I've been to dance halls in the past where there were entire families from grandparents to grandkids mixing easily with the crowd. Leon Springs comes to mind.

Is there anything like that in Temple or Salado? I don't expect much from Killeen or HH, but don't mind a short drive.

Oh there's plenty of "dance halls"

Debonaires are playing in Granger tomorrow night

Oscar Store usually has something on weekends

Check Sefcik, Star, or Flag (Cyclone) to see if anything is going on there..

Unfortunately, the heyday of the East Bell County (SPJST) dance halls is gone

I second all of Pablo's suggestions. Good family fun can be had at each of those.

Not Bell County (neither is Granger, for that matter) but I'll throw Walburg restaurant (biergarten) in the mix. Opens around mid-April and they have a polka band that plays every weekend under the pavilion in the biergarten. They play a lot of 2-step stuff too. Pretty good walk-up window food, lots of beer, an arcade for the kids, music, all under the oaks about 25 miles south of belton.

Good family fun.

And one more is Dale's Essenhaus in Walburg. Live music on Fridays and Saturdays. Went out there one time and they had an 80's band playing the main stage and dance floor.. Now that was a BLAST!!!

EDIT: That 80's band (Radiostar) will be out there May 18. Rotel and the Hot tomatoes will be out there June 1. Lots of other bands are already booked throughout the spring and summer... Mostly Country bands I assume.

Also, Dale's is very family friendly...
