It would take about a litre of bourbon and whatever psychotrophic meds are available to get me to stick one toe in that thing...

Every once in awhile talk cranks up about dredging that thing and making it more physically accomodating for tubers and swimmers...

Yeah nooooooooooooo thanks....

Don't they release trout every year into Nolan creek? I'm assuming people catch and eat those fish? Can't be that bad if they are eating?

Yes they release trout

Yes I have caught them

No I wouldn't eat them

Even then, how much worse would a fully cooked fish, that had been in Nolan creek about 24 hours, in the winter when bacteria levels are lower, be than swimming or wading in the creek for several hours in the middle of the summer, perhaps with an open sore or wound?

Dunno, but if you wanna go splash around in there, have fun....

About Nolan Creek, I do think it is a pretty area and could have potential. Unfortunately, I just don't see the water quality ever being what it needs to be to make it suitable for swimming.... I think it just picks up too much bad stuff meandering through downtown Killeen and through those old rickety neighborhoods of Belton. Add to that rural septic systems, street and lawn runoff --- just don't see it happening, and I shake my head every time the Belton leaders bring it up....
