Saw the headline "liquor store @ Sanger and Lake Air on fire" this morning on the news. Knew immediately it was Spec's. This store is a disappointment (IMHO) compared to other Spec's in DFW and Austin.

Craft beer-centric people may be interested in a new place on 8th between Franklin and Austin. Toledo's Hop Shop.

as far as spec's go that place was horrible. just a mediocre at best liquor store they bought out a few years ago. hope they rebuild something that is up to par for the name.

The specs in temple is awesome but it's also in new construction retail space. The one in Killeen is in the old circuit city and I was very disappointed. It seemed dingy and the people weren't very friendly. And I really wish they could open on Sunday's. Sucks that it burned right before the holidays.

It was very meh. Before it was specs as Dicortes it was very meh. Hope no one was hurt and that they have good urnsurance. Maybe they can re-open in the new shopping center by the new Heb.

Killeen tends to have more and better inventory than the same stores in temple. I live just as close to either town so shopping depends on the direction I feel like going. I like the temple specs but I really appreciate it now. As far as twin liquors goes, the HH one is nicer than the temple store, but it's in new retail construction too. I can't knock Killeen too much. It has gotten much better over the years. I don't like the traffic or crazy drivers, but temple/Belton isn't too far behind the same chaos. For temple to be on I35 it seems to lag way behind in selections and inventory for all consumer items compared to Waco and Killeen. Probably has to do with populations I'm sure.

Yes, Temple is about half the size of Killeen, and a little more than half the size of Waco. Figure in Robinson, Hewitt, Woodway, Bellmead, Lacy Lakeview, Harker Heights, and Fort Hood, and Killeen/Waco have much larger retail consumer bases than Temple
