The best food in the area! Tried the fried egg sandwich the other day. Awesome. Omelettes the best and pork torta sandwich my husband likes a lot.

It's an early Sunday morning tradition for me. When they open, I am there. Pastrami hash is my fave. The outside seating is pretty nice right now with the temps still low.

Yup. I'd prob put Miller's at #2 on my list.

Where are these places, I'm still looking for good places to eat in Waco.

Meggs is on the NW corner of 31st Street and Loop 363 in Temple. Behind CVS

I had the lamb burger today at lunch, fantastic!

I had pastrami sandwich and my daughters had the chicken caprese sandwiches...all was good but MY sandwich was fabulous! We shared the pretzel/dip appetizer and I almost canceled my meal in favor of appetizer/dessert! We will definitely be going back!

Easily one of my all time favorite places to eat.

The pastrami hash is the bomb.

So what's with the staff? I love the food but the service is not very good. It's very affordable so I hate complaining. I just don't get it. The hostess lacks a neat and clean appearance and most of the time the waitresses look like they did a walk of shame to work. Restaurant service is mostly poor around here, but it typically matches the food and atmosphere. I would think meggs would have higher expectations because of their quality of food.

Last take out was 45 minutes from the time I called to the time I got my order, and 35 minutes of that was spent waiting in the lobby after I got there.

One recent dine in was VERY slow

Another was even slower, but the waiter was at least attentive and apologetic for the slow kitchen -- comped us a glass of wine each

Food has been top notch every time, but I agree with mazzag. Service has been pretty uninspired

They really need to tighten that up over there

It has definitely made us consider other options despite their great fare

Besides Crowes, where in Temple is their timely service?

Meggs has been slower than everywhere I've been.

Wes's was pretty bad a few weeks ago as well. 40 minutes from sit down until we got our order

The service has been fine at Cheeves, Olive Garden, BJs, Smashburger, Jason's, Mee Mee's, Dynasty, the Mexican Restaurants, and elsewhere...

From the looks of it, all the good, peppy, and attractive waiters & waitresses work @ razoos in harker heights. Can't blame them. It's packed with people that are drinking and eating a lot, so better tips. But owners in temple could have higher expectations as well.

You can't blame Wes' for the bad service. Those ladies are great and bust it. Just so dang good that the line is huge.

This is true at waco and temple... I can't stand BJ's for 2 reasons.
1. Food taste like chilis
2. Service is too slow. Just ordering a business lunch has taken 55 minutes (twice) to get chicken tenders and fries. Insane.

Side note: the staff in waco aren't too bright either. I ordered the fried tender basket with a side of fries. I asked for them to be tossed in buffalo sauce. Waitress said no problem...

Tenders came out golden brown, fries came out bright red..... SMH......

But, really, it's probably not fair to compare chain restaurants with family owned ones. I posted this same complaint on Facebook. A friend said luigis in Belton has good service. I haven't been in years, but Jody's always did. We always eat at the bar at cheeves and have gotten a crappy bartender before, but most of the time they are great. The taqueria on central has good bartenders and waitresses. The taqueria on Sparta, not so much. I never ate at the bluebonnet cafe, but did people go just for the food, or was the service good too? Saigon Cafe has great service as well. I don't want to boycott meggs, and I prepare myself before I go, but I still end up frustrated. I thought about sending them an email. Who knows, maybe they don't know people have complained.

That's one place I have completely taken out of the rotation

I used to eat at Bush's at lake road and had nothing but good service. But that was over a year ago. I don't go to Belton often now.

I did not know anyone went INSIDE at that Bush location. It is near my house and the drive thru has always been good. I wish they would cut a road over to Kegley because I would go there even more if I could use that back route to get home. The left turn back onto Adams, with the hill blocking the view to the right it an accident waiting to happen. So I usually just go there and to the next door Sonic if I am on my way to school, not home.

I would say service is pretty hit or miss all over central Texas.

Wife and I both love the wings st wingstop in Temple. Service there was pitiful this evening.

Have to give a shout-out to Will at Megg's. He has been my waiter the last two times and service has been great (kitchen is a bit slow no matter what). He has glasses and I think really short hair. I can't remember.

Never had a problem with the wait staff

It's the kitchen and the "front desk" that has been lackluster at times...

One time recently it was so slow that the waiter comped us a glass of wine.

I have absolutely had inattentive, indifferent service there. One of the worst waitresses has actually been there from the beginning!

Skipped the details of the aforementioned visit, but the latest take out venture defeated the purpose

But what do I know, and what do they care? I'm nobody The place is packed dawn-to-dark so who am I to criticize???

Still think their food is the best in central Texas. Would like to see then put more effort into the customer service side of business

A group of friends go to taqueria on Sparta every Tuesday night. They eat, drink, and stay a while. It's usually 8-12 people, and not everyone gets there at the same time, they all meet up. It looks packed there all the time. Last night I guess they complained to the manager about the poor service and said they could always go somewhere else. He said, go ahead. Next week they are going to try Mi Pueblo. I just don't get it.

Never been to Mi Pueblo

Place is usually crowded so I guess people like it

Do they actually put any booze in those cheap margaritas, unlike some places?

I don't know but the $1 margaritas at taqueria taste like the taco cabana margaritas. I think those are made with wine?

Where is Mi Pueblo? I'm always looking for a good Mexican food place. My favorite place has been inconsistent.
